Safeguarding at Victor Fung Dance

Victor Fung Dance acknowledges the duty of care to the people we work with and the people we serve. Our safeguarding policy ensures that we comply with best practice and government guidance in protecting children and adults at risk when offering dance

experiences for all.

The health and wellbeing of all our stakeholders is of utmost importance to us. We work with our staff, collaborators and partners rigorously to regularly review our safeguarding policy in order to cultivate a safe environment across all aspects of work we do.

When working with young people and adults at risk, we ensure they fully understand the measures we have in place to protect their health and wellbeing. We clearly signpost channels through which participants can contact us in case additional support is needed when participating in activities offered by Victor Fung Dance. This includes designated staff members they can contact onsite (when activities are delivered in person) and via electronic means (when activities are delivered online). In the case of immediate danger or emergency, please call 999 for emergency services.

Please contact Victor Fung Dance through email at info@victorfungdance.com

Victor Fung Dance recognise the responsibility to safeguard against the physical, emotional, and sexual abuse of young people and adults at risk and will report any abuse discovered, disclosed or suspected.

When we are contacted by young people or adults at risk reporting a situation where potential harm is concerned, we would record the information and decide what further action might be needed. We will not question the individual except to clarify what they are saying and will pass the information on to an external agency.

Safeguarding - Online activities

Online experience for learning and recreational purposes now plays a prominent role in young people’s lives. Victor Fung Dance will facilitate the safe, responsible and respectful use of technology to support learning and engagement, ensuring that technology used are reliable, secure and fit for purpose.

Victor Fung Dance (@victorfungdance) is the official name we use across our social media accounts and digital platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo and TikTok. Any materials relating to these accounts are strictly professional in nature. On no occasion should our staff, collaborators or partners engage in private messaging with young people or adults at risk from a personal social media account.

Victor Fung Dance promotes the safe and responsible use of social media. Whenever possible, we remind young people and adults at risk the following key points:

  • Use social media responsibly and in ways that enriches your lives

  • Never share personal information on social media

  • Even though social media can be a great way to connect with others, we may come across situations where interactions are not as pleasant as we hoped. In the unfortunate event of encountering such situations (including bullying or abuse), you should consult trusted adults (such as your guardians and carers), report the instance to relevant social platforms, and contact Victor Fung Dance for support.
